Camille (Bun) Aubé
The family is broken-hearted to announce the passing of Camille (Bun) Aubé of Edmundston, NB on December 29, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis Aubé (née Harding) for 69 years; father of Lucille, Suzanne, Denise, Janet and Mike (Nicole); grandfather of Micheline (Stéphane Dupéré) and Pierre Morel (Christina Berubé); Dominique (Georgina Stuart), Catherine (Simon Lemieux-Huard) and Nicholas Aubé; great-grandfather of Keela Roy (Michaël Roy), Olivia and Alexia Dupéré; Mayson and Maverick Morel; great-great-grandfather of Laurence and Romie Roy; and little brother of Florence LeBlanc (late Gerry LeBlanc)
Bun was predeceased by his in-laws Jessie (née Hemeon) and Allan Harding; his brothers and their spouses: Edgar (Irene), Ernest (Kathleen), Martin (Bella) and Adelard (Evelyne) and his sisters and their spouses: Cecile (Arthur Gaudet), Evangeline (Georges Lapointe), Liliane (Camille Bernier) and Leah (Adelbert Picard); his brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry Harding (Arlene), Norval Harding (Neeta), Arnold Haley (survived by Shirley), Frank Harding (Sibyl), Shirley Haley (Charlie), Marion Gray (Charles), Audrey Briggs (Herbie), Elaine Bach (Ova), Dorothy Tompkins (Murchie); and his granddaughter Caroline Aubé.
He was born in Chatham in 1926, on the mighty Miramichi, to the late Télesphore and Elizabeth (née Elsliger) Aubé. At the age of six, Bun and the family moved to Edmundston where he eventually worked for 40 years for Fraser Paper, retiring 34 years ago as a first-class machinist. His work products were always sought out.
Bun had many interests and pastimes. In his hay days, he was an avid fisher and hunter, and loved his annual hunting trip to the quonset hut in the Green River despite relentless teasing of George and Phil.
He was a past president of the Edmundston Curling Club, past president of the Edmundston Rotary Club and a former Treasurer of the Edmundston Boy Scouts. He was a great card player and even learned to play bridge which he was very good at until his eyesight failed him. He loved music and had a wonderful tenor voice which was heard almost every Sunday for many years in Saint Peter’s Chapel at the Cathedral or singing lullabies to all the grand kids. He was an excellent baker of bread and gingersnap cookies which the family nick named power pellets. He loved to swim, bowl, skate and tinker in his workshop. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, and he taught all his children how to do home repairs. Yes, even the girls! Most of all, he loved his time at the family cottage on Lac Unique. Bun was a wonderful husband and father and he loved his family dearly.
We know he is at peace, with the warm sun on his face, a glass of the Captain in his hand and no broccoli or cinnamon within 100, 000 miles.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and personnel of Les Résidences Jodin for the care compassion and support over the last three years.
For those who wish, donations in Bun’s memory can be made to the Les Résidences Jodin or the Alzheimer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
There will be no funeral or visitation at this time. A memorial service will be held at the Bellavance Funeral Home in Edmundston in the spring/summer of 2021.

Époux bien-aimé de Phyllis Aubé (née Harding) depuis 69 ans, il était aussi père de Lucille, Suzanne, Denise, Janet et Mike (Nicole) ; grand-père de Micheline (Stéphane Dupéré) et Pierre Morel (Christina Bérubé) ; de Dominique (Georgina Stuart), Catherine (Simon Lemieux-Huard) et Nicholas Aubé ; arrière-grand-père de Keela Roy (Michaël Roy), Olivia et Alexia Dupéré ; de Mayson et Maverick Morel ; arrière-arrière-grand-père de Laurence et Romie Roy ; et petit frère de Florence LeBlanc (feu Gerry LeBlanc).
Il est précédé dans la mort par ses beaux-parents Jessie (née Hemeon) et Allan Harding ; par ses frères et leurs épouses : Edgar (Irene), Ernest (Kathleen), Martin (Bella) et Adelard (Evelyne) ; par ses sœurs et leurs époux : Cecile (Arthur Gaudet), Evangeline (Georges Lapointe), Liliane (Camille Bernier) et Leah (Adelbert Picard) ; par ses beaux-frères et ses belles-sœurs : Harry Harding (Arlene), Norval Harding (Neeta), Arnold Haley (laissant Shirley dans le deuil), Frank Harding (Sibyl), Shirley Haley (Charlie), Marion Gray (Charles), Audrey Briggs (Herbie), Elaine Bach (Ova), Dorothy Tompkins (Murchie); et par sa petite-fille Caroline Aubé.
Fils de feus Télesphore et Elizabeth (née Elsliger) Aubé, il est né à Chatham aux abords de l’impressionnante rivière Miramichi. Alors qu’il était âgé de 6 ans, Bun et sa famille ont déménagé à Edmundston, où il a travaillé pendant 40 ans en tant que machiniste de premier ordre à l’usine de pâte et papier Fraser Papers, prenant sa retraite il y a 34 ans. Son travail y était grandement apprécié.
Les intérêts et les passe-temps de Bun étaient nombreux. Au plus fort de sa vie, il était un pêcheur et un chasseur avide qui chérissait son voyage de chasse annuel au camp Quonset de Rivière-Verte, et ce, malgré les incessantes plaisanteries de George et de Phil. Il a été président du Club de Curling d’Edmundston, président du Club Rotary d’Edmundston et trésorier des Boy Scouts d’Edmundston. Il était un grand joueur de cartes, avait appris à jouer au bridge et à l’époque où sa vision était encore intacte, s’y débrouillait plutôt bien. Il adorait la musique et avait une belle voix de ténor que l’on pouvait entendre, soit à la chapelle Saint-Pierre de la cathédrale à presque chaque dimanche pendant de nombreuses années, soit lorsqu’il chantait des berceuses à ses petits-enfants. Il cuisinait de délicieux pains et d’excellents biscuits au gingembre que la famille avait l’habitude de surnommer des « power pellets ». Il adorait nager, jouer au bowling, patiner et bricoler dans son atelier. Il pouvait tout réparer et il a montré à tous ses enfants à faire de même. Tous ont bien appris, même les filles! Mais ce qu’il aimait par-dessus tout, c’était le temps passé au camp familial du lac Unique. Bun était un époux et un père merveilleux qui aimait profondément sa famille.
Nous le savons désormais en paix, le visage baigné de soleil, un verre de Captain à la main, loin de toute trace — ne serait-ce qu’infime — de brocoli ou de cannelle.
La famille tient à remercier l’ensemble de l’équipe médicale et du personnel soignant des Résidences Jodin pour la compassion et le soutien dont ils ont fait preuve dans les trois dernières années.
Des dons peuvent être faits à la mémoire de Bun aux Résidences Jodin, à la Société Alzheimer ou à l’organisme de son choix.
Il n’y aura aucunes funérailles ou visites pour le moment. Un service commémoratif aura lieu à la Résidence Funéraire Bellavance à Edmundston au printemps ou à l’été 2021.

My sympathies to all the family. He was a great man. When my parents use to go to Edmunston and Lac Unique and I went with them, he always made me feel at home. Even after when visiting him and Phyllis at the camp, he would take me out on the lake with a fishing pole in my hands and we would exchange stories and experiences from both our lives. He was a community minded person and offered a lot of his time to the people of Edmundston. May he rest in peace.

My sincere sympathies and prayers go out to ALL the extended Aubé family. Uncle Bun will be missed and I will never forget our times at the Conquest Hut with its drippy faucets and pickle plate that uncle Bun loved sooooo much. He is a class act to follow for sure. Saddened by this news but know he is in a better place and in the arms of predeceased family members who loved him as well. RIP uncle Bun.
